FLUX & SLOVENT

It is advantageous to fit a topside canopy over the preheaters to produce more effective drying and activation. This will allow the use of faster conveyor speeds and improve soldering. At a speed of 5 ft/mm, a contact length of 1,5-2 between the wave and the PCB is recommended. At lower speeds, this contact length should be reduced. Very slow speeds through the solder wave may produce dull solder joints. All flux can be used with all standard solder alloys. The recommended maximum solder bath temperature is 260°C (500°F). The solder bath temperature can generally be reduced compared with processes using conventional fluxes. Temperatures as low 235°C (455°F) may be used in some situations and this results in improved soldering and less wastage through drossing.
Dwell time on the wave should be 1.5-2.5 seconds.
Conveyor speed for dual wave systems should be at least 4ft/mm.

FLUX TF 118
A versatile organic acid flux.
Used in air conditioning, autimotive, heat exchangers refigeration and many other industrial soldering applications.
Zinc Chloride free.

Titration:
To a 1 ml sample of flux add 99 ml of distillated water in an erlenmeyer flask, add 15 ml of dilute nitric acid and 25 ml of 0,1N Silver Nitrate, add 10 drops of Ferric Ammonium Sulfate. Tritate with 0,1N Silver Ammonium Thiocyanate. The end point is a rust color.
For total halogen, volume titrate multiply by 5.

FLUX NCF 03

A versatile inorganic acid flux.
Used in air conditioning, automotive, heat exchangers and man y other industrial soldering applications.

NCF 03 may be applied by brushing, swabbing, or dipping.
Soldering should be carried out as soon as possible after flux application. Air drying or moderate preheating will reduce or climate spattering. The residues are water soluble and must be cleaned throughly with warm water.

precautions
NCF 03 contains inorganic acid, all of which are hazardous.
This flux contains Zinc Chloride 3.5%, Organic COmpound 40%, Anorganic Acid remainder. Adequate ventilation is recommended to remove flux fumes along with fumes and vapors from the molten solder and heated parts. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.
Store in plastic containers away from heat.
Flux has 2 years shelf life.

PASTE FLUX

caution
This flux is Zinc and Chloride content.
Eye contact may cause irritation and injury.
In case of eye contact, flush freely with water. Call physician immediatellly.
If swallowed, give one or two glasses of water or milk and call physician.
Skin contact may cause irritation.
Continuous industrial use in small unventilated areas may result in sufficient inhalation of solder and flux fumes to case lung damage and irritation of the respiratory tract.

instructions for use
A quick yet non-aggresive paste flux which does not freeze or decompose. No odor.
Works freely on galvanized iron, lead, tinned stell and other metals.
Used extensively by plumbers and tin workers using all solder alloys including 95/5% and all lead free solders.
Not for electronics use or with alumunium or magnesium.

 

CLEAN
Brush or sand clean all metalsurfaces to be joined, using sandclothes steel wool, file or metal brush.
FLUX
Apply only a very small quantity of flux using an acid brush or cotton swabb.
HEAT
Join together and heat the metal surface, not the solder. Solder will flow toward the source of the heat.
SOLDER
Touch solder to hot metal. When it melts, remove the heat. Feed in the desired amount of solder.
